Duchess of Cambridge Likely to Become UK’s Grenadier Guards’ New Colonel

The UK’s Grenadier Guards are set to welcome a new Colonel, following the removal of the Duke of York from the position earlier this month.

According to reports, senior officials at the organisation have expressed their desire for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, to take on the role.

If she were to accept, Catherine, who is 40 years old, would be the first female Colonel in the regiment’s 366-year history.

Sources have revealed that there is a strong desire among the ranks for Catherine to take on the position.

A senior official in the Grenadier Guards told The Times, “From straw polling through the ranks, they would all love it to be Catherine.

We all admire the way she is fitted in and behaved.

She never seems to put a foot wrong.”

It was expected that the name of the new Colonel would be announced on Monday, but the announcement was delayed.

While an unnamed military official confirmed that the Duchess of Cambridge was not selected, the fact that the announcement was delayed suggests that the regiment has been giving serious consideration to her appointment.

The decision on who will become the new Colonel is made by the regiment and the Queen, who took on Andrew’s role by default.

Founded in 1656 by King Charles II, the Grenadier Guards have played a significant role in practically every major British Army operation, including the Napoleonic, Crimean, Boer, First and Second World Wars.

The Duke of York took on the honorary role with the Grenadier Guards in 2017 when his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, retired from public life.

However, he lost his position when he was stripped of his military titles amid a s** assault lawsuit brought by Virginia Dufresne in the United States.

Ms Dufresne claims she was forced to have s** with the Prince as a youngster.

The charges are categorically denied by the Duke of York, who must now defend himself in U.S. courts against allegations of rape and s**ual abuse.
