Meghan Markle Accused of Faking Story About Archie’s Nursery as She Takes Dig at Royal Life on New Podcast

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has come under fire from Africans who accused her of faking a story about her son Archie's nursery.

The accusation came after she took a discreet dig at royal life on her new Spotify original podcast Archetypes.

In the podcast, Meghan spoke to tennis player and friend Serena Williams and revealed that whilst on a tour of South Africa with Prince Harry, a small fire broke out in Archie's room.

Archie, who was four months old at the time, was not in the room when the fire occurred.

However, he should have been down for a nap at that point.

The fire happened when a heater in the residence began to smoke in a room with no smoke alarms.

The incident left Meghan shaken and in tears, but she was forced to continue with official engagements.

During her new podcast series, which was released on Tuesday August 23rd, Meghan described how the event played out during the couple's tour of South Africa in September 2019.

Whilst she and Prince Harry were visiting the township of Nyanga with their son Archie, they left him with his nanny at the British High Commissioner's residence.

“We immediately went to an official engagement in this township called Nyanga,” Meghan said.

“And there was this moment where I'm standing on a tree stump and I'm giving this speech to women and girls.

We finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say, there's been a fire at the residence.

There's been a fire in the baby's room.”

The Daily Mail reports how they returned to the accommodation and found their nanny, whom she refers to as Lauren, in floods of tears.

Meghan added that the nanny had decided to take Archie downstairs before his nap when the smoke was detected.

“In that amount of time that she went downstairs, the heater in the nursery caught on fire,” Meghan states.

“There was no smoke detector.

Someone happened to just smell smoke down the hallway.

Went in, fire extinguished.

He was supposed to be sleeping in there.”

Meghan continued, “As a mother, you go, Oh, my God, what?

Everyone's in tears, everyone's shaken.

And what do we have to do?

Go out and do another official engagement.

I said, this doesn't make any sense.

Can you just tell people what happened?

And I think the focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels.”

The South Africa trip was their last official tour before they stepped down as working royals in January 2020.

The podcast comes almost two years after Harry and Meghan signed an £18m podcast project with audio giant Spotify.

In other news, the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle will not bring their children Archie and Lilibet for their upcoming UK trip.

A royal expert has predicted that Lilibet and Archie would not join their parents on the UK visit due to Prince Harry's security concerns.

Kinsey Schofield said, “The Sussexes sound very busy on their upcoming trip.

I do not expect for the couple to bring their children, especially with their security concerns.”

Earlier this week, the royal couple's spokesperson said, “Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.”
