Royal Family News
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making headlines once again, this time for their demands of privacy.
The couple, who stepped down as senior members of the royal family in January 2020, have had a rocky relationship with the media since the beginning of their relationship.
They have issued multiple warnings to the press and pleaded for privacy, but have not shied away from publicity.
This has prompted some to question their strategy, including Jeremy Vine panelist James Max.
Max took issue with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's agreement with Netflix, despite the Duke's protectiveness toward his mother Princess Diana's legacy.
He criticized Harry, saying “he shouldn't work there, Netflix, I'm sorry, he's a say-er not a do-er.
He speaks about the private having got there on his private jet.
Trending:
He speaks about no intrusion but puts publicity out there on his own basis.
If you are that concerned about the publicity, walk away from the public life.
Stop causing it.”
Vine intervened, suggesting that Harry may be “a bit damaged” due to everything that happened to his mother.
But Max quipped, “a bit damaged?
He's fallen off the back of a lorry and everything's broken.”
Vine added, “well, hang on, there he is as a little boy, without knowing that she had 10 more years of life left.
What did that do to him?
You can't imagine.”
Journalist Ash Sucker added that the Royal Family does something incredibly traumatic to human beings by putting their interpersonal lives, loves, and insecurities front and center of national life.
This is one of the reasons why Sucker is a staunch Republican.
The Sussexes have recently come under fire for their reported £150 million deal with Netflix.
Many are criticizing Harry's silence surrounding the portrayal of his late mother, Princess Diana, in the Netflix show The Crown.
Elizabeth Debicki has taken over the role of Princess Diana from Emma Corrin in the new season.
The show has been criticized for the way it has portrayed Diana as a helpless victim.
According to Town & Country, the Sussexes' very first series on the streaming service will be an Invictus Games documentary.
Harry will serve as executive producer for the series, which is slated to air in 2022.
In addition, Meghan is said to be creating an animated series titled Pearl, according to Variety.
Although Harry and Meghan's respective projects are still in production, some royal experts believe that they should terminate their contract with the streaming giant.
Some people are upset with the portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, which airs on Netflix, and that has caused some experts to suggest that Prince Harry walk away from any and all projects he has with the company.
Royal expert Angela Levin told The Sun, “Harry has remained absolutely silent about Netflix.
He should tear the deal up and make a stand for his mother.
What's more important?
Money or defending his mum?
It's astonishing he can't find his voice on this.”
Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, also suggested that Harry didn't think the deal through before signing it.
Jemima Khan, a friend of Princess Diana, stopped working on The Crown due to the portrayal of her friend.
She stated that “I realized that particular storyline would not necessarily be told as respectfully or compassionately as I had hoped.
I requested that all my contributions be removed from the series and I declined a credit.”
It is unknown if Harry has any plans to confront the portrayal of his mum on The Crown, or if he's even considering terminating his contract with Netflix.
However, many are suggesting that he should take a stand for his mother and walk away from the streaming giant.
