The Duchess of Cambridge: A Thrifty Royal

The Duchess of Cambridge, often described as a thrifty individual, has been making headlines for her love of recycling her wardrobe.

Even though she may have access to luxury designer labels and bankrolling her wardrobe, 's recycling habits make her the perfect advertisement for the cost per wear shopping model.

According to Who What Wear, purchasing an expensive coat that costs £500 and wearing it 100 times over a long period would work out at £5 per wear, making it more of a bargain than buying a cheap £30 jacket and only wearing it a few times before disposing of it.

The pregnant Duchess has recently been showcasing her thrifty side by recycling her maternity wear from her previous two pregnancies.

Her favourite piece is a £65 floral dress from Sarpene which she has worn no less than four times, making each wear cost just £16.25.

Kate's favourite Rupert Sanderson pumps and navy are a staple in her wardrobe but may seem out of reach for the average person with a cost of £440.

However, given that she has worn them at least 20 times on official engagements, they work out at just £22 per wear.

While the Duchess does love a pair of high street jeans from Zara, she also relies on her J Brand 811 skinny jeans that cost £216.

Despite the price tag, Kate is certainly getting her value for money, having worn them on more than a dozen occasions, which works out at £18 every time she steps out in them.

One of her favourite outfits, a red skirt suit by Louisa Spugnoldi which cost £465, has enjoyed four outings, working out at £116 per wear.
