Half of British people think Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview BACKFIRED.
According to a new poll, half of the people interviewed believe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey backfired on them.
The poll, administered by Piplsay, received responses from 12,037 British citizens in order to learn more about the public's perception of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they revealed how tough life was for them as members of the royal family. According to the poll, 50% of those polled believe the interview will potentially harm Markle and Prince Harry, while only 23% believe it will benefit them.
The pair refused to live up to their royal duties, according to 40% of those polled, and 66 percent believe the former royals deserved to have their honorary titles and royal patronages stripped away from them. Just 44% of those surveyed think the press has been overly harsh in its treatment of the pair, while 36% believe the media is just doing its job. Finally, 58 percent of those polled believe that the British people should avoid obsessing about the royal family.
The poll comes after Markle and Prince Harry told Winfrey — and, by implication, the nation — that the press treatment in the United Kingdom, as well as the royal family's lack of care, drove the former actress to contemplate suicide. Markle has revealed that she was silenced as a royal in the United Kingdom and that derogatory remarks about her future children were made.
