“I still don’t believe her.” – Piers Morgan reaffirms his skepticism of Meghan’s Oprah interview

Piers Morgan stands by his remarks about Duchess Meghan and 's interview with on ITV's “Good Morning Britain” on Monday, which led to his departure from the show on Tuesday.

The former host took to Twitter on Wednesday to defend his initial comments that he didn't “believe a word” Meghan said in her two-hour long, insightful interview on Sunday. Her explanation of the palace's cold indifference to her mental stress, and their assertion that an unidentified royal family member showed “concern” about “how dark” their son 's skin will be, were the two most poisonous accusations she made in the interview.

Morgan captioned a photo of a Winston Churchill quote, “On Monday, I said I didn't believe in her Oprah interview. I've had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don't.”

He added: “If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I'm happy to die on, I'm off to spend more time with my opinions.”

Morgan's departure from the show was reported by ITV in a statement released on Tuesday: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave ‘Good Morning Britain.' ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add. ”

Morgan's words have resulted in a flurry of complaints and an inquiry.
