Meghan Markle’s “Single Grey Hair” Is a Talking Point For Royal Fans
Kate Middleton's gray hair is officially a thing of the past. These days, everybody is talking about Meghan Markle's gray hair. We really shouldn't be, to be honest. Last week, fashion magazine Marie Claire learned the lesson the hard way after publishing an essay titled “Meghan Markle Has a Single Grey Hair.” Royal lovers were not happy, to put it lightly.
The article's subheading, “And it's Magnificent,” gives the impression that the tale isn't intended to embarrass Prince Harry's bride, and the text is definitely upbeat. “Who knows if Meghan Markle is opting to only own it, rather than wasting time and money on such constant upkeep, or if she simply doesn't care because it's one hair,” speculated the author. “But, in any case, it's good to see she's much like the rest of us, with a few stray greys!”
Regardless about if the piece was intended to draw attention to Meghan's single grey hair, Twitter users felt the fixation was unacceptable. One user tweeted, “Meghan Markle skipped one appointment with her colorist, and Marie Claire wanted to bring their journalism degrees to work.” “Marie Claire over here writing about a single grey hair on Meghan Markle's glorious head,” journalist Liana Aghajanian added. “Change your perspective, this is absurd.”
The latest media frenzy is reminiscent of the 2015 uproar over Meghan's future sister-in-law Kate's gray hairs, which erupted after hairstylist Nicky Clarke mocked the Duchess. He told the Daily Mail, “Kate wants to get rid of her gray hair — it's not a nice look.” “I strongly advise her to conceal it. “I despise gray hair.”
A Glamour writer immediately corrected Clarke, saying, “There's nothing wrong about grey hair.” Go ahead and color it if you want to. If not, you're not being lazy, unattractive, or a negative role model for women. “End of story.” The moral of the tale is that we should ignore these royals' gray hairs and instead concentrate on their accomplishments!
