Deeply Hurt Queen Regrets Meghan and Harry’s Decision to Quit Royal Family, Regrets

The Royals are reported to be “deeply hurt” by and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's surprise declaration that they will be stepping back. The Queen expresses regret over their decision.

Recently, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, revealed that they will be stepping down from their positions as senior royals. The royals were allegedly “blindsided” by the announcement, which sent shockwaves around the world. T he Queen stated that she is deeply upset and regrets her grandson and granddaughter-in-law's decision.

Her Majesty voiced her regret on Monday night when she announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will forfeit government funding and relocate to Canada to “transition” to a new life.

She acknowledged that she would have preferred the Sussexes to stay, but said she understood and respected their desire to “live a more independent life as a family while remaining loved members of my family.”

On Monday, the Queen summoned senior members of the Royal Family to Sandringham for crisis talks about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's future and how their responsibilities will be transformed when they step down from senior positions.

The Queen issued a statement after the royal crisis talks with senior members of the Royal Family on Monday at the Sandringham summit, which lasted two and a half hours.

“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family,” the statement reads.

“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan's desire to create a new life as a young family.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.

“It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.

“These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”

The Queen referred to the royal couple as “Harry and Meghan” and “the Sussexes” as she announced they had “made clear that they do not wish to be dependent on public funds in their new lives” amid suggestions that the Duke and Duchess might lose their titles.

The Queen was “clearly devastated” by the Sussexes' decision to travel overseas, according to a royal source, who said, “They've succeeded, haven't they?” They had their cake and ate it, and now they have it. It's the first time I've ever seen anything like it.”

He said the Queen's speech was unusually candid and akin to a “huge hug” to the pair in the hopes of holding them close to the Royal Family while attending to their wishes.
