Meghan MUST drop Duchess title to run for President

If the Duchess of Sussex were to run for president of the United States, she would have to give up her royal title, according to an expert.

When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she was given the title of Duchess of Sussex.

There are reports that she might compete for president in 2024 if Joe Biden chooses not to pursue re-election.

She has shown a deep desire and satisfies all of the criteria, according to TheArticle.

Following her controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tom Bower told ITV's Good Morning Britain that Meghan Markle would need to detach herself from the Royal Family. Meghan Markle would have to abandon the title of Duchess of Sussex, according to the biographer, because it does not go well with the American electorate.

“All she has got to do really, in the end, is distance herself from the Royal Family even more and drop the title of Duchess,” Mr Bower said.

This is unpopular with American voters.

“I think that she is a woman that is very much looking for a role within the world,” he said.

“She is well placed now with the Oprah Winfrey interview.”

“In the end, I think what she has managed to do with the Oprah Winfrey interview which trashed the Royal Family [is give herself] a global profile.

“She is now known across the world at the expense of the Royal Family.”

“That is the first step to a political career and she has done that very successfully.”

Victoria Arbiter, another royal observer, informed 7News that keeping the title would “conflict” with the oath Meghan would have to take to assume public office.

“US constitutional experts say that were she to run for president, it would be in direct conflict with her oath for public office,” she added.

“Were she to run, it is more likely she would do so as Meghan Markle than as the Duchess of Sussex,” Ms Arbiter said.

“Meghan has made no secret of her interest in politics. Last year, she did use her platform to encourage people to use their right to vote. She has spoken about social justice, racial justice and rights for women .”

Meghan is bringing together a general election bid, according to a prominent Labor Party official with connections to the Democrats in the United States, who talked to the Mail on Sunday.
