Piers Morgan ‘under attack from Meghan Markle’

Piers Morgan gave his first interview after becoming engulfed in a scandal over his critique of 's controversial interview with on Monday on Tucker Carlson Today.

The former host of Good Morning Britain (GMB), said he was being harassed by people who were critical of his disbelief of and 's Royal Family allegations. Mr Morgan said Meghan Markle wanted him to stick to her account of events after he stated he didn't buy her story.

He went on to say that he had received backlash not only from the general public, but also from Meghan Markle, who filed a complaint against him with Ofcom, the government-approved regulatory agency.

Morgan's coworkers on Good Morning Britain were also offended by his remarks about Markle. Morgan got up and walked off the set when one of his coworkers confronted him about it on air. He was later resigned from the show.

Following the interview, Morgan relentlessly criticized Markle, who accused the royal family of racism and exposed previous suicide tendencies when chatting to Winfrey.

“I don't believe Meghan Markle. Now, what I didn't know, and what was a fascinating thing to discover after I left, was that Meghan Markle, between the Monday and Tuesday, had made a personal complaint to the boss of ITV ,” Morgan said, later adding, “So I was under attack from Miss Markle, both directly to my boss and to the government regulatory body, under attack to basically conform to her version of events. I had to believe her, and if I didn't, I was a callous racist and I should be condemned and ultimately, as it turned out later that day, lose my job. And I think that's a pretty perilous slope.”

He said he only found out about her complaint after ITV requested him to quit his program, Good Morning Britain.

“I didn't know that and I was never told that.”

“I do not know what pressure Meghan was directly putting on but I know she did personally contact her.”

Morgan is adamant that many of Markle's claims in the interview were false. He brought up the idea that Winfrey alluded to Markle's words as “your truth” at one stage. Morgan thinks this alone is enough to throw skepticism on Markle's claims, also comparing her to former President Donald Trump.

“What does that mean? When did we get to your truth? This is the kind of defense — the kind of thing we would hear liberals attack Donald Trump for, for reinventing facts, for creating his own truth ,” Morgan said. “But when Meghan Markle does it, the same liberals that attacked Donald Trump cheer and applaud her, saying, ‘This is her truth, and it must be believed. And if you don't believe it, you're a racist.' Well I'm sorry, I'm not a racist. I just don't believe her .”

Mr Morgan also asked that Meghan and Harry include further information on their allegations against Royal Family members.

He demanded that Meghan name the Royal Family member who told her she couldn't get assistance in the case of Meghan's mental wellbeing.

“Meghan Markle is making these incendiary claims, you are accusing two people in the Palace of being unspeakably cruel, simply to protect the brand of the Royal Family,” he stated.

“If that is true, let us have the names of these people.”

“Let's go to them and ask them if this is true.”

“We will ask ‘did you tell a suicidal woman who told you she was suicidal that she was not allowed to get help?'” we'll inquire.
