Queen STOPPED calling Harry and Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

has released a statement in response to her grandson and his wife, 's tell all interview with Oprah.

But in a surprising move from official royal correspondence, the Sussexes are merely referred to as ‘Harry and Meghan' in the literature, and not ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex' as they usually would.

The statement was released by Buckingham Palace following crisis talks among the senior royals as they discussed the way forward.

It reads:

“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and will always be much loved family members.

The consistent use of “Harry and Meghan” as opposed to “TRH The Duke and Duchess of Sussex” is unprecedented.

The couple were given their titles on their wedding day, in May 2018, when Meghan was formally admitted into the royal family.

Her Majesty also didn't mention the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles in a statement released in January after revoking Harry and Meghan's roles and other titles.

Whether this means the couple are set to lose their royal titles or not remains unclear, but it is certainly an unusual stray from typical royal behaviour.

But it doesn't appear that it's in Harry and Meghan's plans to lose their Duke and Duchess titles, as theybut it may be a compromise the Queen is insisting on if Harry no longer wants to be a full-time working royal.
