Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s popularity plummets to record lows

According to a survey released on Friday, and his wife Meghan's popularity has plummeted in the United Kingdom and has never been worse since their explosive interview with American talk show host .

The fallout from and 's interview with is still being felt. Days after mocking the royal family on television to explain why they went to the United States, their popularity in the United Kingdom has plunged to new lows.

Meghan added in the interview that her requests for assistance when she was suicidal were disregarded, and that one unidentified family member had inquired about the color of their baby 's skin.

In the aftermath of the bombshell interview, a new YouGov survey indicated that 48 percent of British respondents had a bad opinion of Prince Harry, compared to 45 percent who had a favourable impression. He now has a net favorability rating of -3, which is down 15 points from the previous survey. Markle, on the other hand, had a dip of 13 points, dropping to -27. (meaning that 31 percent have a positive view of her, while 58 percent have a negative view).

The only other royal whose popularity has dipped since the interview is , who has fallen 14 points to +7; , , and Princess Catherine's attitudes have remained mostly unchanged.

There was a generational difference in the surveys performed since the interview, with a majority of those aged 18 to 24 loving Harry and Meghan and those over 65 having largely unfavorable emotions against them.

In a separate survey done by Piplsay earlier this week, 50 percent of British respondents said the interview would harm Markle and Prince Harry. It seems that they were correct.

A secondary survey, done partially before the interview aired in the United Kingdom, indicated that public support for the monarchy remained fairly intact, with 63 percent supporting the institution and 25% favoring an elected head of state.
