Meghan Markle was ‘shocked’ by Royal Life, Harry reveals
Prince Harry spoke out about how becoming a royal influenced his wife, Meghan Markle.
During the first several months of his relationship with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry says he learned a lot. Meghan's “shock” was highlighted by the Duke of Sussex as he reflected on how she was instrumental in his decision to visit a therapist and “fix” himself.
On a podcast in the United States, the Duke shared Meghan's “most amazing explanation” when discussing life as a “fairytale” royal vs the reality.
Prince Harry told the Armchair Expert podcast: “My wife had the most amazing explanation.
“‘You don't need to be a princess, you can create the life that will be better than any princess.' It's something like that.
“And that's coming from her own lived experience.

“We got together and she was like ‘wow, this is very different to what my friends at the beginning said it would be.'”
During their chat, Prince Harry said that his wife was aware that her life would change as a result of her marriage to the royal family, but that she expected things to be fair.
Prince Harry said: “I was always the ‘yes' man, I was always the one willing to say yes. ”
But that yes, yes, yes, yes of course, yes, led to burnout. ”
“And it was like someone had taken the lid off all of the emotions I had suppressed for so many years suddenly came to the forefront.
“I saw GPs, I saw doctors, I saw therapists, I saw alternative therapists, I saw all sorts of people.
“But it was meeting and being with Meghan. I knew that if I didn't do therapy and fix myself, then I was going to lose this woman who I could see spending the rest of my life with.
“There was a lot of learning right at the beginning of our relationship.
“She was shocked to be coming backstage of the institution of the British Royal Family.
“When she said, ‘I think you need to see someone', it was in reaction to an argument we had.
“In that argument, not knowing about it, I reverted back to 12-year-old Harry.”
