Piers Morgan tells Meghan he’s coming back to GMB – NOT CANCELLED
Piers Morgan is pounding his chest as he reveals that ITV executives in the United Kingdom are keen to have him back on “Good Morning Britain” after he stormed off the air in March for statements he made about Meghan Markle.
The controversial TV personality may already be making a return after co-anchor Alex Beresford called out his persistent Meghan Markle hostility in March, when he stormed off the show and resigned his lucrative Good Morning Britain position.
Meghan reportedly contacted the network to express her dissatisfaction with the comments at the time.
The offer comes after the ITV show's ratings have plummeted following Morgan's departure.
“They reached out — there have been approaches. Never say never,” Piers, 56, revealed, according to The Sun.
In his first print interview since his resignation, Morgan boasted of his ability to recover those who had switched the channel, claiming that the show had entered a ratings dip in the months after the outspoken editor-at-large quit the program in spectacular manner.
Trending:
“I have no doubt I could take the ratings back to where I left them — but the doubt is, would anyone be allowed to do it that way again?” Morgan said. “I was hired to give very strong, honestly held opinions, which I did. But in the end I was asked to apologize for a genuinely held opinion.”
It's not a formal offer, but he claims he's had “some rather random third-party feelers” wondering whether he'd “consider a return to the show.”
“As the Americans say, they reached out — there have been approaches to test the water in the wake of their obvious ratings issues. ”
“It makes me sad to see all the hard work we did to beat the BBC in viewing numbers evaporate so fast. It's their problem to work out…but never say never.”
His failure to apologize to Markle was a big factor in his decision to leave. He has yet to express remorse to the Duchess of Sussex, while sticking to his guns.
In fact, he feels Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, should have their royal titles revoked for “trashing the institution and causing a lot of damage.”
“I think they should be stripped of their titles because they're trashing the institution and causing a lot of damage in the Commonwealth where a lot of the countries are believing this racism crap,” he insisted. “They've become the world's biggest victims in the middle of a pandemic. It's pathetic. Harry needs to grow up.”
The presenter of Life Stories, who is presently on gardening leave from GMB, has hinted at a return to the show.
During a recent interview, he told Meghan that she was in for a “big shock,” since he had not been “cancelled.”
Piers said that he is more popular than ever, and that fans may see him and his former co-host Susanna Reid on the show again in the near future.
“She [Meghan] thinks she's beaten me? She might be in for a surprise, because I suspect I'll be back soon,” the 56-year-old told Mailonline.
“And my views certainly haven't changed. If Meghan thinks she has cancelled me or won the battle, she is in for a big shock. I've never been more popular,” he added.
