Beloved Family Dog of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Passes Away
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, also known as Prince William and Kate Middleton, recently announced on Instagram that their family dog, Lupu, had passed away.
The black Cocker Spaniel had been a part of the family for nine years and was a gift from Kate's younger brother, James Middleton.
Lupu had been a constant companion to the royal couple and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
According to a Royal Insider, Lupu's passing was especially difficult for Prince George, who had grown up with the dog.
The seven-year-old was reportedly devastated by the news and struggled to understand what had happened.
The Insider said, “Poor little man, didn't understand what had happened.
Trending:
He adored that dog.”
Kate had often been seen walking Lupu around the grounds of Kensington Palace, describing the dog as the heart of the family and a bundle of energy with a mischievous streak.
Lupu had been actively involved in the family's life, even playing a role in choosing Prince George's name.
When the royal couple had difficulty deciding on a name for their first child, they wrote down their top choices on pieces of paper and scattered them on the floor.
Lupu then chose the name by picking up one of the papers with his mouth.
The name Lupu itself translates to wolf, which is why the couple had chosen it.
Lupu had appeared in many family portraits over the years, including one where Prince George is seen feeding him ice cream on his third birthday.
The dog had also protected Prince George when he was a baby, according to a journalist.
The loss of a dog can be difficult for anyone, and James Middleton also expressed his sadness at Lupu's passing on Instagram.
He posted a picture of the dog and wrote, “Nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a dog.
For those who have never had a dog, it might be hard to understand the loss.”
The Duke and Duchess did not reveal the cause of Lupu's death, but they expressed their deep sadness at the loss of their beloved pet.
