Duchess of Cambridge Keeps Coat On During Lunch With Norway’s Royal Family

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently visited Norway's royal family where they enjoyed a private lunch with Crown Prince Håkon and Princess Mette-Merit.

As always, was in the spotlight, but this time for keeping her coat on during the cozy meal.

The Duchess opted to keep on her plum-colored Dolce & Gabbana coat that she had worn earlier that morning to meet students at Hertford-Gneisen School.

She was pictured with the coat buttoned all the way over her growing bump, and the reason for this could be simply down to royal protocol.

According to OK, royal women never remove their coats in public as it is deemed unlady-like.

Despite the fact that the Duchess was inside Håkon and Mette-Merit's official residence, Skagum, the visit was still a public engagement, and cameras were present to capture the moment.

Later on in the day, the Duchess and mother of two put her playful side on show, lobbing a snowball at her husband.

For that occasion, they changed to dress for the freezing conditions in bobble hats and padded coats, watching students show off their skiing skills.

The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge challenged the second in line to the throne to a snowball fight, raking the snow into a ball before tossing it at .

looked apprehensive as Kate playfully threw the snowball at him, with the royal covered in a dusting of snow from the attack while the pair took in breathtaking views at Holmenkollen.

Cheerful William then joked, “it's too cold for snowballs.”

Earlier in the day, before the lunch, William, along with Crown Princess Mette-Merit, praised the school kids for bravely tackling tough issues such as homophobia.

The school is the location of the popular drama Skam, meaning shame in English, which was streamed daily online and is now being remade in the US.

Meanwhile, Kate compared the sub-zero temperatures in Oslo to her days as a student in freezing cold St Andrews.

When a pupil asked her about her schooling, she said, “I went to a school called Marlborough College and then on to university which is where I met William, to St Andrews University in Scotland, miles away, freezing cold, but I can't complain about that being here, it's much colder here.”

While the Duchess of Cambridge is known for her impeccable fashion sense, she has been criticized during the trip for choosing some frumpy outfits.

However, not removing a coat isn't the only royal protocol the Duchess has to follow for public engagements.

She previously revealed why the Duchess of Cambridge is always pictured with her own natural nails.
