Duchess of Cambridge Pays Subtle Tribute to Princess Diana

The Duchess of Cambridge made a subtle but significant tribute to her late mother-in-law, , at a black-tie event in Stockholm.

Kate accessorized her £1,945 Erdem gown with Diana's pearl bracelet and Collingwood earrings.

This is not the first time that Kate has worn these pieces of jewellery; she wore the same bracelet during her visit to Germany last year.

The Duchess has also worn the earrings on previous occasions.

Kate is known for her love of fashion, and she is an avid fan of London-based designer Erdem.

Her dress is believed to be a version of the label's silk crepe-de-kine Stephanie gown from the AW17 collection.

The gold mustard hue of her frock is a subtle tribute to both British fashion and Sweden's national colours, which are blue and gold.

She also carried a burgundy clutch bag.

The Duchess has worn 's jewellery on several occasions, including the Cambridge Lovers knot tiara, which she wore to a state banquet at Buckingham Palace in July last year.

The tiara was famously heavy and gave Diana headaches, but she still wore it several times.

After her death, the tiara was kept in a safe until it was given to Kate.

She has also worn the tiara in 2015 and 2016.

Of course, Kate is best known for wearing Princess Diana's engagement ring.

The ring was given to her by when he proposed on holiday in Kenya in October 2010.

At the time, said he wanted to use his mother's jewellery as a way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement.

Kate also owns a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings, gifted to her by her husband and originally owned by Princess Diana.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began their tour of Sweden by watching a bandy hockey game.

They then joined the Swedish royals for lunch and took a walk around Stockholm.

The couple finished off their afternoon with a visit to the Nobel Museum and attended an event celebrating Swedish design.

Kate's hair was styled in loose curls for most of Tuesday's engagements, but it was restyled into a chic updo for the formal dinner.

This showed that she was wearing Princess Diana's Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings.

The Duchess is known for her impeccable sense of style and her diplomatic fashion choices.
