Duke of Cambridge Joins Thousands of Racing Fans at Isle of Man TT

The Duke of Cambridge recently visited the Isle of Man TT to watch motorbike riders compete against each other on the world-famous circuit.

William, who is known for being a motoring enthusiast, was visibly excited as he watched the powerful machines race past him on Wednesday.

He even admitted that his wife, , was a little sceptical about his intentions when the minister for enterprise, Laurence Skelly, asked him about her views.

The Duke once owned a £20,000 Ducati motorbike, which can go from 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds, and was last seen riding the 190mph machine the night before his wedding in 2011.

However, his wife, who is currently on maternity leave after welcoming their third child, has admitted that it fills her with horror when he rides it.

During a visit to Dundee in 2015, Kate told a local, “He's still riding it.

It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it.

I'm terrified.

Hopefully, I'm going to keep George off it.”

Despite his dangerous hobby, William reportedly said he had put it on the back burner while speaking to triple world superbike champion Jonathan Rhea last year.

During his recent visit to the Isle of Man, the Duke met with support staff and volunteers, attended a reception for guests from across the island and visited the Joey Dunlop Foundation.

The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, TT, Races is an annual motorcycle race meeting that takes place in June.

It first ran in 1907 and is one of the oldest continuous motorsport events in the world.

William arrived at the TT Grandstand to watch the final stages of the TT Super Sport Race 2 before attending a reception in the Government House Tent.

Guests included representatives from across the Isle of Man, including TT staff and volunteers, civic dignitaries and local businesses.

This year's meeting features nine races including a Superbike Race, for modified 1000cc bikes, the TT Zero for electric bikes, a lightweight race, featuring super twin bikes, and two sidecar races.

The Duke was dressed in a dark navy suit and sunglasses and was seen mingling with the crowd as he enjoyed the races.
