Megan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been linked to hotelier John Fitzpatrick and golfer Rory McIlroy in the past.

It is rumored that she may have had a romantic relationship with Fitzpatrick, who invited her to an event where Liam Neeson was present.

Neeson later denied knowing Markle, despite photographic evidence.

The actor is a good friend of Fitzpatrick, who owns two hotels in New York City.

When asked if he knew Markle, Neeson said she was a sugar baby to the owner of Fitzpatrick's.

According to Tom Bauer, Markle and Fitzpatrick met in 2014 when she was starring in Suits and McIlroy was having a drink at the bar of one of Fitzpatrick's hotels.

He described Markle as brilliant and great fun and revealed that he invited her to the White House, where she met Barack Obama.

Fitzpatrick joked in an interview that he definitely wasn't dating her and said they were just good friends.

At another fundraiser in New York, Markle posed for a photo with Fitzpatrick and Neeson.

After Markle and 's whirlwind romance, Fitzpatrick was among the guests she invited to the royal wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

He told Irish journalist Charlie Bird that it was an amazing wedding and revealed that he stayed in a hotel with her friends from the cast of Suits.

He later visited her at Kensington Palace on a business trip to London.

Markle's relationship with McIlroy began when he nominated her for the Ice Bucket Challenge in 2014.

According to Bauer, Markle insisted he come to a friend's apartment in New York to dump the ice on her himself, and he happily obliged.

McIlroy had just split from his blonde fiancée, Danish tennis ace Caroline Wazanski, and was reported to be chasing brunettes.

After posting the Ice Bucket Challenge video, which raised funds for motor neurons disease research, the pair went for a drink at the Fitzpatrick Hotel where McIlroy was staying.

The following morning, McIlroy arrived at Ridgewood Country Club, 30 miles away, to play in a new competition.

He was looking a little worse for wear after a hectic night.

He fell back to 101st place.

Nevertheless, he refused to sleep as usual near the golf course to be ready the following day.

Instead, he drove back to New York to see Markle.

His performance suffered as a result.

In his book, Bauer claimed that Markle was keen to use her close relationship with McIlroy to promote herself.

She encouraged the media to publish photographs of McIlroy and herself.

As she would later admit, she occasionally set up a paparazzi photo or let info slip to the press.

According to Bauer, Markle's chef boyfriend, Corey, questioned her relationship with McIlroy at the time, but the suit star insisted they were just friends, and he believed her.
