Meghan Markle Accused of Embellishing Childhood Struggles

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been accused of embellishing a story about her childhood struggles.

A royal expert recently pointed out that Meghan's now-deleted Instagram account shows she frequented the exclusive Musso & Frank Grill in Los Angeles, where she paid $55 for a steak, contradicting her claim that she grew up on a $4.99 salad bar.

On October 20, Meghan published an open letter to Senator Chuck Schumer and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, advocating for paid parental leave.

In the letter, Meghan sympathized with Americans who are constantly trying to make ends meet, citing financial struggles in her own childhood.

She revealed that she could only afford to eat out at cheap places, such as the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler, and worked various jobs as a teenager to make money.

However, royal commentator Angela Mollard accused Meghan of embellishing her childhood story.

Mollard said, “she then goes on to talk about the fact that when she was growing up she had to buy $5 salads to exist and she worked in a yogurt shop and that sort of thing…now the critics have come out and said, well actually you went to a $16,000 a year school and your dad was a celebrated lighting director.”

Meghan's father, Thomas Markle Sr., won a lottery worth $750,000 when Meghan was a child, and she attended Immaculate Heart High School, a private Catholic institution.

Mollard added, “I think that is where she makes her errors.

She has a point to say and then she seems to always need to embellish the story, and I think that's where she's gone wrong here.”

It has also emerged that Meghan previously bragged on her Instagram account about regularly eating at Musso and Frank Grill with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, causing speculation about the authenticity of her claims.

Moreover, Meghan once claimed she paid for college by herself during a speech at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji.

She said she was able to attend college with scholarships, financial aid programs, and work study.

However, according to Newsweek, her parents financially assisted her with tuition.

This information came out during the trial Meghan had against tabloid newspapers in the United Kingdom.

Meghan's lawyer filed a statement that read, “Mr. Markle did not pay for all of, Meghan's, college tuition.

Meghan's, mother also contributed towards her university costs…Meghan, also undertook a work study program whereby income she made from working on campus after class was applied directly to supplement and lower her tuition costs, thus personally contributing to her tuition as well.”

The accusations of embellishment have caused controversy and criticism towards Meghan.

Some critics suggest that she is trying to gain sympathy and portray herself as a victim, while others believe that she may be trying to appeal to a wider audience by presenting herself as relatable.

Regardless of the motives behind her claims, many are now questioning the authenticity of Meghan's stories about her childhood struggles.
