Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s recent visit to Manchester did not receive a warm welcome from local residents.

The couple's visit to the vibrant northern city and Meghan's impassioned speech at the One Young World Summit gained criticism from many.

Michelle, a nurse from Didsbury, expressed her opinion by saying that she doesn't care about what the couple has to say.

She believes that there are more pressing issues plaguing the country on which they could use their platform to help.

“There's more important things happening at the minute like the cost of living crisis, maybe they could use their platforms to help with that,” she added.

The event also received criticism for making young leaders pay for tickets and travel expenses, with tickets costing more than £1,000 per day to attend.

Ben Goldsborough, a trainee solicitor from Chorlton, called the ticket price extortionate and said that it excludes people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“As soon as you attach a price, especially one that expensive, then it does make it more based on your background and how privileged you are.

I understand these things do cost money, but I think that's quite extortionate,” he added.

Despite Harry and Meghan urging their followers to show up, no crowds were present at the One Young World Summit, and most seats were empty.

Critics have reacted harshly to Meghan's keynote speech, with royal expert Daniela Elsa describing it as tipping over into the ridiculous.

During her speech, Markle referred to herself 54 times in just 7 minutes, which was criticised by Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine.

She said that Meghan's speech made no sense and that she couldn't visualise or comprehend how the 2,000 young people understood a word of what she was talking about.

Furthermore, Anne Widdicombe slammed Meghan as being self-centred and very self-absorbed, accusing her of stretching the truth and pretending to be a role model.

“I mean, if you ask me whether is a role model, I'd say a role model of everything that you don't want to be,” Ms Widdicombe said.

Kinsey Schofield, a royal expert, claimed that Meghan is especially excited to return to the United Kingdom to be in the spotlight and highlight causes close to her.

She also suggested that and Meghan's return is due to pressure and a need to create content for streaming services Spotify and Netflix, for which they've signed big money deals.

The couple's visit to Manchester has raised questions about their motives and priorities.

Despite the criticism, they continue to promote causes close to their hearts, with Meghan using her platform to draw attention to issues such as mental health and gender equality.

However, some argue that they should focus on more pressing issues, such as the cost of living crisis, which affects many people in the UK.

In conclusion, Harry and Meghan's recent visit to Manchester has sparked controversy and criticism from local residents and royal experts alike.

While the couple continues to promote causes close to their hearts, some argue that they should focus on more pressing issues affecting the country.

The high ticket price for the One Young World Summit has also been criticised for excluding people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

It remains to be seen what their next move will be and how they will continue to use their platform to make a difference.
