Meghan Markle Writes Letter to Father to Protect Prince Harry from Royal Family Pressure

, the Duchess of Sussex, has been in the news recently after a text message exchange between her and her then Communications Chief, Jason Knauf, was released by the Appeal Court.

The messages reveal that Meghan wrote a letter to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, to protect from constant reprimands from the Royal Family to do something to prevent him from speaking to the media.

According to the text messages, Meghan believed that a letter was better than an email or text message as it does not open the door to a conversation.

She sent Knauf a draft of the letter she proposed to send to her father, dated August 22, 2018.

In the message, she explained that by writing a letter, she could protect her husband from constant reprimand and, although unlikely, she may give her father a moment to pause.

Meghan said she had written everything with the understanding that it could be leaked, so she was meticulous in her choice of words, including her use of the word dad, which, if leaked, would pull the fibers of the heart.

Knauf responded with a text message, stating that the draft of the letter is very strong, enough emotion to be authentic, but all with resigned sadness instead of anger.

He suggested there were some tweaks to the order of events that could be a little stronger.

The text messages also revealed that Knauf advised the Duchess not to ask her friends to engage directly with the perpetrators so that they could say hand on heart to those who did not have access.

He added that if she still thought she would like one or two people to speak to them on her behalf, they would arrange it.

Later, Knauf sent an email to say that he spent about two hours with the authors of the Sussex biography, Finding Freedom.

The Appeal Court released the text messages after Knauf presented them as evidence during an Associated Newspapers Ltd. appeal against a higher court ruling that the post of excerpts from the letter by the Mail on Sunday and Mail Online were illegal.

ANL has argued that the case should go to trial, claiming that the Duchess lost any automatic right to privacy over the letter, claiming that she collaborated in sharing details of her life with the authors of the Sussex biography, Finding Freedom, that she denies.

Royal author and commentator Richard Kaye made this claim in his piece for the Daily Mail.

He began by saying that there is a finality about this photo that suggests there is no way back for a couple who could have been at the epicentre of royalty but are now at its margins.

Kaye went on to say that it is a lesson Prince Harry could do well to study because every royal picture tells a story.

The couple has been in the news recently after their interview with , which caused a stir among the Royal Family and the public.

The interview revealed issues of racism and mental health struggles within the family, and the couple's decision to step back from their roles as senior royals.

In conclusion, the text messages between Meghan Markle and Jason Knauf have shed light on the pressure the Duchess faced from the Royal Family to prevent her husband from speaking to the media.

The release of the messages has sparked controversy, with ANL arguing that the case should go to trial.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to make headlines, with their recent exclusion from the epicentre of royalty causing a stir among royal commentators.
