Meghan Markle’s Balmoral Plans Cause Uproar at Buckingham Palace
The passing of Prince Philip's wife, Queen Elizabeth II, has been a painful time for the royal family.
Amid the grief, however, a small domestic drama unfolded that left many at Buckingham Palace incredulous.
It involved none other than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan.
The Sussexes were fortunate enough to be in the country when the Queen's health failed, sparing Harry an emotional and undoubtedly traumatic transatlantic dash.
However, as the royal households were consumed with concern for the ailing monarch, Meghan announced that she would be travelling to Balmoral.
The news of her plans came via a small group of media outlets, tweeted out by journalists at 1:53 pm.

This announcement was news to the palace, and it did not go down well.
Many behind royal walls were frankly incredulous.
It is said that Meghan exploded at Harry when told she couldn't go, shouting at him for over an hour and threatening to go home.
It is still unclear how much pressure was brought to bear by the palace itself, or whether senior royals were involved, but a spokesman for the couple frantically began to clarify their position, informing those same journalists that only the Duke was travelling at the moment.
Exactly what happened is open to speculation.
Some say that Harry and Meghan hadn't considered that William's wife wouldn't be there, with Kate staying in London instead, and when it was pointed out that she wouldn't be, they realised how bad it looked.
Others believe Meghan was effectively banned, using the argument that Kate, now the Princess of Wales, was staying at home.
Their hurried announcement that only Harry would be making the trip north from the capital prompted a sigh of relief among aides.
Putting aside the anguish of the past few years, the initial decision in itself, that both Sussexes would travel, was seen as wholly inappropriate, according to palace insiders, for one very simple reason – this was a private, family moment.
Britons have given sympathy to the royals and urged the Sussexes to leave them alone in this saddened time.
One comment read, “The late Queen's funeral should be all about the Queen and not someone who wanted to be Queen.
That person should take a few steps back and realize the coming days are about a lady that gave her heart, soul, and self to serving this country.
The whole world loves the Queen, and it's difficult to imagine our planet without her.”
Another stated, “I read elsewhere there was a fight between them, and that is why Harry was late getting to Balmoral.
Meghan apparently was mad she couldn't go to Balmoral, threw a fit, and threatened to head back to the USA.
I would have said go back to the US.
I would have said go back to the US.
I would have said go back to the US.
I would have said go back to the US.”
The announcement of Meghan's plans to travel to Balmoral was a fortunate coincidence of sorts, but it caused an unprecedented flurry behind the scenes.
The palace was consumed with concern for the Queen's health, and Meghan's announcement did not go down well.
Many were incredulous, and Meghan reportedly shouted at Harry for over an hour.
