Meghan Markle’s Children’s Book Fails to Boost Sales Despite Worldwide PR

's dream of earning a million bucks from her pricey children's book, The Bench, has turned sour.

Despite the Duchess of Sussex's high-profile appearances in New York to promote her book, it has failed to spark an increase in sales, according to royal commentator Neil Sean.

During her visit to a primary school in Harlem, Meghan read aloud from her book to promote children's literacy, while sat in the audience with the second-grade pupils.

However, despite the worldwide PR opportunity, the price of The Bench has been reduced by several retailers, and it has failed to sell as expected.

Sean said that a few months ago, there was a big publicity hype for Meghan's first book, but people in the United Kingdom think it's incredibly pricey and too expensive for the type of book that it is.

He also noted that Penguin Random House, the publishers of Harry's forthcoming book, were hoping for a spike in sales.

The Bench is about the relationship between a father and his son, told from the perspective of the mother.

It was originally conceived from a poem Meghan had written for on his first Father's Day and inspired by her husband's relationship with Harrison, their first child.

Illustrator Christian Robinson provided watercolor paintings for the book, which, according to the Duchess, capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life.

The book received mixed reviews, with the New York Times praising the messaging and illustrations but saying it's not terrible, but it's not terrific.

The Bench marked the couple's first literary venture, with Prince Harry currently writing his memoir, which is due to be released in late 2022.

During their three-day tour of New York, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex conducted several official engagements, including meeting with New York's mayor, Bill de Blasio, joining a roundtable discussion with the World Health Organization, and giving a speech at the Global Citizen Live concert.

The trip was their first joint public engagement since leaving the royal family in 2020.

Despite the couple's efforts to promote Meghan's book, the price reduction by several retailers suggests that it has failed to capture the attention of readers.

Sean noted that even though there was worldwide PR with all the press present, showing it on newsreels and across social media and print, there has not been a spike in sales.

The failure of The Bench to sell as expected comes as a surprise, considering Meghan's high-profile appearances in New York.

However, the book's high price and mixed reviews may have contributed to its lack of success.

Meghan's dream of earning a million bucks from her book may have to be put on hold as she faces the reality of disappointing sales.

Despite her efforts to promote the book, it seems that readers are not willing to pay the high price for what the UK audience considers to be a type of book that is too expensive.

Prince Harry's forthcoming book may have better success, but only time will tell.

For now, Meghan must deal with the bitter failure of her dream to earn a million bucks from her children's book.
