Meghan Markle’s Wobbly Christmas Curtsy Explained by Royal Butler

All eyes were on , the fiancée of , as she joined the royal family at the Christmas Day church service at Sandringham in Norfolk.

However, her curtsy to the Queen was not executed perfectly, according to Grant Harreld, a royal butler who appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain.

He revealed that Meghan's mistake was bobbing too low.

Harreld was on the show to discuss the etiquette around regifting unwanted Christmas presents when he was asked to demonstrate the correct way to curtsy.

He explained that for a lady, it is important to place the right foot behind the left and then gently bob without flapping the arms like a penguin.

Women should keep their arms by their side to avoid looking like a flightless bird, he added.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who politely curtsied to her husband's grandmother alongside Meghan, pulled it off with aplomb, according to Harreld.

Pregnant Kate kept her back straight and bent slightly at the knee in her black heels, while Meghan dipped too low and bowed her head.

Princess William and Harry simply nodded their heads beside their respective other halves, in front of the gathered crowds eager to catch a glimpse of the royal family's new fab four.

Harry and Meghan have spent Christmas with William and Kate at Anmer Hall, their country home on the Queen's Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Meghan became the first fiancé to join the royal family at Sandringham for Christmas, and hundreds of well-wishers gathered to see her first public appearance alongside the Queen in the Cambridges.

She stepped out in an eye-catching brown beret and wrapped up warm against the chilly winter temperatures in a beige £986 St Taylor coat tied with a belt.

Adding to her chic ensemble, Meghan wore a pair of brown Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots and carried a $1,550 leather handbag by Chloe.

She was also wearing a pair of Burke Snowflakes earrings, which she previously donned at the Queen's Christmas lunch.

The American actress proudly displayed the engagement ring that himself designed ahead of their engagement in November.

Meghan clutched tight to Prince Harry's arm as they made their way to the church service.

Although Meghan's curtsy may not have been perfect, it did not detract from the joyous occasion.

The couple's first public appearance together with the royal family was a huge success, and they were warmly welcomed by the crowds.

As the newest member of the royal family, Meghan will undoubtedly learn from her mistakes and perfect her curtsy in the future.
