Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s appearance at the salute to freedom gala has been the talk of the town.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a sensational appearance at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum in New York.

However, their body language during the event has raised questions about their true intentions.

Body language expert Judy James debunked the couple's appearance, revealing the messages they were sending through their movements.

According to James, their body language suggests a conflict of interests between radiant red carpet A-listers and “been-there, done-it, naff-off press royals.”

While their outfits said a lot, their movements spoke volumes.

The couple performed their red carpet walk like twin galleons, all upright elegance with eyes diverted away from the cameras and their focus fixed instead on the people waiting to meet them.

Harry's signature hand clasp was in place, with his hand on top and pushed slightly back as though keen to protect his wife.

Meghan's dress was a clear jaw-dropper of a show-stopper, with its plunging neckline, complete with pinned poppy, and super dramatic train.

At the end of their appearance, with her back turned to the cameras, she appeared to throw in a classic celebrity red carpet pose when she glanced back over her shoulder with a rather knowing smile that included one raised eyebrow and sideways eyes.

There was even a small hunch of the shoulder to suggest a playful moment for the fans and the press.

The couple's appearance sparked confusion after Harry was seen wearing a rack of four medals on his tuxedo.

Palace rules dictate that he can wear his medals, but he is no longer permitted to wear his ceremonial military uniform after he and Meghan stepped away from royal duties early last year.

Meghan opted to wear a plunging red Carolina Herrera dress and matching shoes.

Following the event, body language expert Judy James claimed that the couple's body language suggests a conflict of interests between radiant red carpet A-listers and “been-there, done-it, naff-off press royals.”

The Duchess of Sussex has also been embroiled in legal action in London over a newspaper's publication of portions of a letter she wrote to her estranged father after her 2018 marriage to Harry.

She sued the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and the Mail Online website for breach of privacy and copyright.

A High Court judge ruled in her favour in February, saying that the publication of the letter Meghan wrote to her father was manifestly excessive and hence unlawful.

Publisher Associated Newspapers is trying to overturn that decision at the Court of Appeal.

The publisher argues that Meghan wrote the letter knowing it might be published and made private information public by cooperating with Omid Scobie and Caroline Durand, authors of Finding Freedom.

The couple's former communications director, Jason Knauf, said in evidence to the court that he gave the writers information and discussed it with Harry and Meghan.

In a witness statement, Knauf said the book was discussed directly with the Duchess multiple times in person and over email.

Emails released as part of Knauf's statement showed he also emailed Harry to discuss the book and to say he would meet the authors.

Knauf said Harry replied, “I totally agree that we have to be able to say we didn't have anything to do with it.”

It's worth noting that Meghan has apologized for misleading a British court about the extent of her cooperation with the authors of a sympathetic book about her and .

The Duchess' lawyers have previously denied that she or Harry collaborated with the authors.
