Prince William Mistaken for a King During Visit to Wales

During a recent visit to Merthyr Tidefull in Wales, and Catherine had an encounter fit for royalty.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stopped at the Dalais Rugby Club to meet with the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, where an adorable youngster confused William for a monarch.

The child excitedly exclaimed, “you're the king,” as he talked to William who was quick to kindly correct him.

“No, I'm not, not me.

My father is,” William replied.

It's easy to understand the confusion as William and Catherine looked regal in their hiking gear and mountain rescue coats.

Before visiting the rugby club, William and Catherine went on an adventure, abseiling off a cliff in the Brecon Beacons while meeting the mountain rescuers.

The group is made up of volunteers who respond to calls 24 hours a day, all year round.

William is the patron of Mountain Rescue England in Wales, and he worked closely with such teams during his time as an air ambulance pilot.

While visiting the mountain rescue team, the royal couple engaged in various activities, including medical support exercises and search dog rescue demonstrations.

Catherine even took part in a simulated casualty rescue and used a radio to alert William to the kit she required.

William quickly brought the kit, and they both helped put it together to evacuate the dummy casualty.

After their adventure, the royals traveled to the Dalais Rugby Club, where they ordered pizzas from the Little Dragon Pizza Van to thank the volunteers.

The Prince and Princess of Wales carried the pizzas into the rugby club and met with members of the team and community.

During their visit, William and Catherine also took the time to speak with members of the public.

Isla Cheek, a nine-year-old from Merthyr, handed William a letter in which she asked if she could marry .

Detective Constable Carolyn Brown and Sergeant Clare Edwards from South Wales Police also had a chat with William about the coronation and asked if they could get an invite to the garden party.

William was more than happy to oblige and got someone to take their details.

Overall, it was a delightful day for William and Catherine in Wales, filled with adventure, pizza, and kingly encounters.

The little boy's confusion may have been amusing, but it's clear that William's kindness and humility quickly corrected the mistake.
