Prince William Plays A Part In Meghan Markle’s Absence At Princess Diana Statue Unveiling
The much-awaited unveiling ceremony of the new Princess Diana statue is set to take place on July 1, which would have been the late Princess' 60th birthday.
However, it has been confirmed that Meghan Markle will not be attending the event as earlier reported.
Royal expert Charlotte Griffiths revealed that Prince William played a significant role in the decision to exclude Meghan from the ceremony.
Ms Griffiths noted that William, being Diana's son, makes a point about his mother regularly behind closed doors.
She said, “This decision and this whole thing was 50% William.
Diana is his mother too.”

According to Griffiths, there is so much tension between William and Meghan, making it an inappropriate time to bring her to the event.
Richard Eden, the Mail's diary editor, added that the official line from the Sussexes was that they have a very young baby and it's just not practical for them to be flying over as a family.
He also stated that it was not surprising that Meghan was not expected to attend, adding that the day was always about Diana and her sons, who are the ones making the speeches.
Ms Griffiths further noted that in another world, Meghan would have looked forward to the visit, especially since her daughter's middle name is Diana, which could have been good for Brand Markle.
However, after everything that has happened, it would have been challenging for her to face up to it.
A source close to Meghan and Harry told ITV that the Duchess would not be joining her husband for the emotional trip.
ITV Royal producer Lizzie Robinson also confirmed this on Twitter, saying, “Meghan will not fly to the UK to join Harry for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother Princess Diana on July 1.”
Prince Harry and Prince William will reunite to unveil the statue, marking only the second time they have met face to face since Megxit took place.
The statue will be placed and unveiled in the princess' favourite spot on Kensington Palace's grounds, in the Sunken Gardens.
