Princess Anne’s Potential Rise to the Throne

Following the passing of II earlier this month, the House of Windsor is experiencing a significant shift in power.

While is next in line for the throne, there are rumours that Princess Anne, the Queen's only daughter, may soon gain more control over the monarchy.

At the time of the Queen's passing, Princess Anne was by her side, along with her brother Charles.

In a statement, Anne expressed gratitude for the time she spent with her mother in her final moments, calling it an honour and a pleasure.

As the only daughter of the Queen, Princess Anne has always held a special place in the House of Windsor.

She has long been known for her work ethic and no-nonsense demeanor, performing even more formal engagements than her brother in the past year.

Despite being 16th in line for the throne, Princess Anne's power may soon increase.

There are rumours that intends to amend an 85-year-old rule that currently allows his niece , his son , and his brother to serve as councillors of state.

If this rule is changed, Anne may be given a promotion to a crucial position to take Charles' place if he is unable to perform his official obligations.

This would be a significant step up for Anne, who has never been farther from the throne than she is now.

One of the reasons for this potential shift in power is the current council of state, which is responsible for designating two or more councillors of state to take the king's place if he is temporarily unable to perform his sovereign duties.

This group is currently made up of non-working royals, including and .

King Charles reportedly wants the law changed so that only working individuals can fill this role, which would free Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, and of their responsibilities as councillors of state.

Princess Anne and her brother Prince Edward may be promoted if this law is amended.

Despite being lower on the succession list, Princess Anne has overtaken Queen Consort as the most senior female royal in the House of Windsor.

She is also not reluctant to share her experience with a newer generation of royals who are ready to bring about change.

In a 2020 profile for Vanity Fair, Princess Anne expressed her desire for the younger generation to approach things differently and refrain from using the same old strategies.

She referred to herself as the “boring old fuddy-duddy at the back” and warned her family that some of their methods were ineffective.

While it remains to be seen how much power Princess Anne will ultimately gain, it's clear that she is well-respected within the House of Windsor and may play a more significant role in the future.

As the monarchy continues to evolve and adapt, it's important to keep an eye on the potential rise of Princess Anne.
