Princess Charlotte Expected to Break Tradition and Hold Title in Her Own Right
Rumors are swirling that Princess Charlotte, the daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton, will break with tradition and hold the title of Grandmother of Duchess of Edinburgh in her own right.
According to sources, when the title returns to the crown, Princess Charlotte is expected to be given a new title, making history as the first person to hold the title of Duchess of Edinburgh in her own right.
The title was previously held by the late Queen and was given to Prince Edward, the younger brother of the current King, when it returned to the crown following his succession.
However, the Prince and Princess of Wales may soon become the first Princess of the Blood to hold a ducal title in her own right, marking a significant moment in history.
Christine Ross, a royal expert, stated to Royally US, “It would be wonderful.
It would be extremely historic because Charlotte would be the first person to hold the title of Duchess of Edinburgh in her own right.

Therefore, it is unrelated to her husband, and it has something to do with the revised rules for primogeniture, which state that Louis cannot dethrone Charlotte as the next in line to the throne.”
Charlotte became the first Princess to maintain her position in the pecking order regardless of any brothers born after her when she became the beneficiary of a change in the law of accession.
This made history even before Charlotte was born.
When his eldest granddaughter reaches adulthood or marries, the King may bestow the title of Duchess of Edinburgh as senior members of the royal family are customarily honoured with a new title on the anniversary of their wedding.
When Prince Philip passed away in April 2021, the then Prince Charles automatically succeeded to the title because he was the eldest son of the Duke of Edinburgh.
But the title officially merged with the crown when he was crowned King in September.
However, a royal insider reportedly stated last month that the King had been keeping the title in order to later transfer it to Princess Charlotte as a final tribute to his late mother.
It was said that although there are ongoing discussions, Princess Charlotte should hold this title, according to the King's preferred outcome.
It would be a suitable way to honour the line of succession and to remember the Queen, who was naturally known by the title Duchess of Edinburgh.
Charlotte could later assume the title of Princess Royal because she is the eldest child of the future King.
The title, which is currently held by Princess Anne, is typically saved for the eldest daughter of the King.
The title is perpetual and may only be transferred after the death of the previous holder.
