Princess Charlotte Steals the Show at Prince Philip’s Memorial

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their two elder children, VIII and VI, attended the memorial service for Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey in London.

The Royal Family, including and around 1,800 guests, were also in attendance.

As the Cambridge family approached the service, appeared to be quite sombre, perhaps in an attempt to match the mood of the day.

However, Catherine told her daughter that she could smile, prompting the little princess to charm the Archbishop of Canterbury and photographers with her sparkling personality.

While George looked more serious in his navy blue suit and tie, perhaps due to his better understanding of the gravity of the situation, Charlotte stole the show with her tartan dress, navy blue coat, black patent leather shoes, and pretty ribbon in her hair.

As they approached the abbey's doors, Catherine reminded her daughter to smile, which she did when she met the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Throughout the service, both George and Charlotte were on their best behaviour and held onto their orders of service as they listened to people pay tribute to their great-grandfather and his extraordinary life.

At one point, Princess Charlotte caught sight of herself on a screen and pulled a funny face, prompting viewers to giggle over her cheeky personality.

The service marked one of the most important outings to date for the two young royals, both of whom enjoyed a close relationship with Prince Philip before his death at the age of 99 last April.

The Cambridge kids spent many Christmases with the Queen and Prince Philip at Sandringham Estate, lived close to them in London at Kensington Palace, and visited them on summer holidays at Balmoral in Scotland.

In a statement released after the loss of Prince Philip, noted that he was grateful for the time his children were able to spend with their great-grandfather.

He mentioned that he would never take for granted the special memories his children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour.

It is understandable that Princess Charlotte may have felt sad during the memorial, but as the Duchess of Cambridge reminded her daughter, it's okay to smile and celebrate the lives of those you love so dearly.

Princess Charlotte has become a favourite among royal fans thanks to her sassy personality, and this outing only cemented her status as a cheeky cutie, just like her mother.
