Princess Eugenie and Beatrice May Act as Royal Buffers if Harry and Meghan Attend Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at the center of controversy lately, with the new BBC documentary The Princes and the Press causing a stir among the royals.

As a result, if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend the Queen's Platinum Jubilee next June, there are concerns about how things may play out.

One critic claims that Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice could function as royal buffers on the palace balcony to ease any awkwardness.

Royal commentator Daniela Elza suggested that Harry's cousins could step in to help if the Sussexes do take part in the event.

Writing for News.com.au, Ms. Elza stated, “here's hoping that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their collection of questionable fascinators stand poised to do their bit to act as royal buffers on the balcony.

Queen and country could be about to desperately need them.”

However, it has been speculated that tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family are too big for Eugenie to repair.

Royal author Phil Dampier commented, “I personally don't think there's much Eugenie can do at the moment to heal the rift.

I think the rift is too deep for her to play a major role in healing it.”

Furthermore, reports suggest that Princess Beatrice has been cautious around her cousin and his wife ever since Markle announced her first pregnancy at Eugenie's wedding in 2018.

Beatrice is shrewder than her sister and sees straight through Meghan and her games.

It's only a matter of time before they burn her again.

Despite this, Princess Beatrice could step in for Prince Harry to assist the Queen.

Currently, Harry along with Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Andrew are councillors of state.

They can step in if the Queen is unable to perform her duties due to illness or absence abroad.

However, due to Harry residing in California, he would be unable to step up to the role if he was ever needed.

If more councillors were to be appointed, the role could fall to Princess Beatrice.

Constitutional experts have suggested that the Duchess of Cornwall could be appointed a councillor of state if more were needed.

In fact, Camilla will become a councillor of state when her husband Prince Charles ascends the throne.

Alternatively, they could go down the line to Princesses Beatrice or Eugenie, or add more members of the family, like Princess Anne or Prince Edward to the list.

It has previously been reported that Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice don't see eye to eye on the subject of their cousin Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.

According to Woman's Day, Eugenie's participation in Markle's 40×40 charity initiative drew concern from Beatrice.

The magazine notes that Beatrice is convinced they're taking advantage of her sister.

“Bea thinks they're using her,” an inside source explains.

“Eugenie is kind and generous to a fault.

Even though she's the youngest child, she was always taking responsibility for her family's many problems over the years and peacemaking comes naturally to her.

She's like the Swiss neutral zone for the royals, but there are real fears her naturally trusting nature will backfire.”
