Spanish Royal Family’s Christmas Card Features Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia

The Spanish royal family is preparing to celebrate the holidays in the best possible way, as difficult year is about to pass.

Many families have suffered, including royal families who have struggled with the global coronavirus pandemic.

For this reason, King Philip 52 and Queen Letizia 48 decided to wish their best wishes with a meaningful and unconventional image.

Their Majesties have decided to show their daughters, Princess Leonor 15, heir to the throne, and Princess Infanta Sofia 13 in the Christmas card, a look, in a certain sense, at the future of the country.

This is the first time, for the first time in five years, King Philip and his wife have opted not to appear alongside their daughters in the Christmas card photo.

The princesses are seen in the photo taken in the parish of Samao in northern Spain, during a family trip there in November.

The Christmas card features a timely message penned in Spanish and English, which reads, “May this Christmas bring us a specially hopeful new year 2021.”

The King, Queen and their daughters also have their signatures printed at the bottom, with a handwritten message that says, “With our best wishes.”

In the Christmas card photo, identical looking sisters, Leonor and Sofia, appear serene and smiling, and extremely close-knit.

Their clothing is not particularly formal and elegant.

In fact, Crown Princess Leonor wore a simple beige t-shirt with a beautiful check jacket.

Her hair is styled in a medium height ponytail, even sportier.

On the other hand, Princess Sofia wore a white turtleneck and a brown waistcoat.

Christmas cards represent a tradition that unites royal families around the world, and, therefore, are highly anticipated.

For this year, Letizia and Felipe wanted to surprise by taking a step back and leaving room for Leonor, the one who will take over the reins of the Spanish monarchy in the future.

Clearly, Leonor and Sofia are the satisfaction of their dad and mum, and, in addition, the people who find themselves fashionable with the royal household.

In 2020, the princesses joined King Felipe and Queen Letizia for a number of dates, and are regularly launched into their royal duties with great care.

Most recently, on Friday, Leonor and Sofia joined King Felipe and Queen Letizia as they attended the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Princess of Girona Foundation at the El Pardo Royal Palace.

Sixty patrons of the foundation took part in the meeting.

The board has approved the 2020 activity report and the action plan for next year.

On this occasion, Princess Leonor looked chic in a paisley printed frock with ruffle hemline, which she paired with smart black pointed shoes.

Meanwhile, her sister Sofia opted for a monochrome polka dot dress and plain black flat shoes.

After King Felipe made his speech at the meeting, Princess Leonor also made her own speech in Catalan.

She said, “I hope that soon we can deliver our awards as we all would like.

Our foundation will continue to be a great benchmark for supporting young talent in our country.”
