The Original Merry Wives Of Windsor: Fergie And Diana’s Bond
The recent appearance of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton at Wimbledon has sparked a lot of conversation about their friendship.
However, before these two duchesses, there were Fergie and Diana, who were known as the original merry wives of Windsor.
The Duchess of York and the Princess of Wales were young women when they were thrust into royal life and the limelight.
They had a clear rapport in the early years of their marriages, even holidaying together and famously poking Fergie's school friend Lulu in the bottom with their umbrellas at Ascot.
Fergie has always spoken highly of Diana, describing her as her best friend.
They had taken vacations together with their children, and Fergie has often spoken of her devastation and the tragic death of Diana.

Sadly, the two were not on speaking terms when Diana passed away.
Their fallout was touched upon in Fergie's tell-all book, Finding Sarah, where she wrote about how much she missed Diana's wit and humor.
The Mail Online reports that the reason for their fallout is believed to be well-known.
Fergie allegedly broke her promise to Diana not to talk about her in a previous book, My Story, by Sarah, the Duchess of York.
She also included a very unflattering anecdote about Diana.
The Duchess was quoted as saying she got a verruca after wearing a pair of shoes she borrowed from Diana, which caused Diana to cease all contact with her.
Despite Fergie's attempts to make amends, Diana never spoke to her again.
The bond between Fergie and Diana was strong, and they managed to maintain their friendship despite the pressures of royal life.
They were both young, vibrant, and full of energy, and they shared a love for their families and their country.
Unfortunately, their friendship was cut short, and Fergie never got to reconcile with her friend.
