After the Royals cut him off financially, Prince Harry admitted that he and Meghan depended on Diana’s inheritance.

In a new addition to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke of Sussex announced that he and his wife have been living off Princess Diana's inheritance.

He said that when he and Meghan decided to step down from their positions, the royal family cut him off financially, and that they wouldn't have been able to do survive without the money he inherited on his 30th birthday (roughly $14 million).

Harry revealed to Oprah that he and Meghan were cut off in the first quarter of 2020, about the time of their not-so-surprise announcement that they'd be stepping down (Harry also revealed to Oprah that the royal family had been informed in advance of his and Meghan's plans), and that they were able to afford their own protection, as well as that of their son Archie, thanks to money left to him by his late mother.

The couple signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify last year, but Harry said that these deals were “never part of the plan.”

Of course, the Sussexes' inheritance from the Princess of Wales isn't their only source of wealth. The duke and his brother, Prince William, both received a £14 million ($17.9 million) inheritance from their great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, with Harry receiving the “bulk of the money” because William would “benefit financially by becoming king.”

Let's not forget that Meghan Markle had a promising acting career prior to marrying Prince Harry at the age of 36.

Toward the end of her acting career, she appeared in over 100 episodes of the legal drama Suits, each of which earned her $50,000. Her appearances in the 2010 films Recall Me and The Nominee earned her about $360,000.

She also had a lifestyle blog called The Tig, which she had to shut down once her relationship with Harry became serious.

Meghan's net worth prior to becoming a royal was estimated to be $5 million.
