Small business owner takes on the “greedy” Harry and Meghan in ARCHEWELL copyright battle

A Filipino businessman is unconcerned over a potential court fight with and over a trademark dispute.

Last July 2020, Victor Martin Soriano, the creator of the deodorant and cosmetics company ‘Archewell Harvatera,' filed a trademark application in the Philippines for his products.

The application, however, was met with resistance from Cobblestone Lane LLC, which represents the royal couple.

“Megan Markle has blocked from America the final registration of Martin Soriano's “Archewell Harvatera” in the Philippines through her legal counsel Federis & Associates Law Offices,” Soriano said in a tweet in December 2020.

The pair applied for a trademark for their non-profit foundation, “The Archewell Foundation,” in April of last year. The Sun announced that it reached a snag when they were unable to complete any of the necessary paperwork.

Meanwhile, Soriano told the World Trademark Review in an interview that his trademark is unrelated to or patterned after the royal couple's.

“Harvatera is my own special expression, almost as rare as Archewell in any world language. When you pair them, you get a totally different word with a completely different meaning in a totally different Nice category,” Soriano explained.

“When it comes to legality, you can bet I can grind it out with them, and I will. Meghan, fresh from her court victories, is supposed to challenge me head-on. All I have to say is carry it on; I'll fight you, as you'll see. It's a showdown because we all have active trademarks, and I'm not opting out if that's how they do things. It's a fight to the finish, and I'm not going down without a fight! ” Soriano went on to say.

Soriano acknowledged that he is “anti-Meghan,” but that if demands it, he would be able to “give up anything out of respect.”

“If the Queen wants me to leave, I will do so without hesitation. But we call Meghan the Wicked Witch of the West,” he explained. “Here [in the Philippines], we're a very cool bunch of people. This has an effect on me, but I'm ready to fight to the end for the sake of principle.

“I think I should win because I'm a small guy from a poor small country about to be swallowed by a greedy monster. I must succeed in this fight,” he said.
