Why Meghan Markle Isn’t Returning to the UK With Prince Harry This Summer
Later this year, Prince Harry is scheduled to return to the United Kingdom. And he'll reportedly be flying alone.
According to sources, Prince Harry expects to fly to London in June from his new home in Santa Barbara, California to attend the Trooping of the Colour and the unveiling of a statue in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace in July. (As an extra bonus, he'll be in town for Prince Philip's 100th birthday celebrations.)
Harry will return alone, while his wife, Meghan Markle, and their young son will remain in the United States. Meghan's supporters and friends are supporting her, arguing that her choice to remain in the United States is not a snub to the royal family, but rather a desire to stay healthy in the face of the pandemic.
“Meghan and Harry have not been vaccinated, and their travel schedules are also in doubt. Meghan wouldn't like to be separated from Archie, because it would be difficult to incorporate a young child into their journeys given all the possible constraints,” says Omid Scobie, co-author of the Sussexes biography “Finding Freedom.” Yes! Magazine was told. “At this stage, it appears that Harry will be make the journey on his own. Meghan, on the other hand, has no intention of snubbing her family. She'd be there if COVID wasn't an issue.”
Meghan's decision to stay at home, according to another source, may also be inspired by a desire to escape heavy media attention.
“Harry wants to return for the major birthdays of The Queen and Prince Philip,” a source said. “However, it appears that it will most definitely be just him. If Meghan returns, it's likely that the celebration will be overshadowed. People will only be interested in the ‘drama' of the circumstance. Of course, she'd be welcome, but refusing to come would at least put off the headache for a bit.”

That's not to say Meghan won't visit the United Kingdom again with Harry. Another source told The Telegraph that after the coronavirus travel bans are lifted, Harry “wants to spend more time in the UK.” This means that a trip to visit his grandmother, great grandparents, and relatives might be on the cards for Archie in the future.
