Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle haven’t spoken “directly in over a year”
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are apparently not in contact right now, and haven't been in a long time. The duchesses haven't talked to each other “directly in over a year,” according to Us Weekly, with a source suggesting that friction between Prince William and Prince Harry is to blame.
“They were never close,” the source states, “but the reason they aren't communicating is due to the divide between Prince Harry and Prince William.” “Over the last year, Harry and William have interacted sparingly, but none of their conversations have been pleasant in a long time. The brothers' resentment toward one another has spilled over into Meghan and Kate's relationship, making it impossible for them to be friends, let alone friendly.”
During her sit-down interview with Oprah, Meghan discussed her relationship with Kate, dismissing claims that she made her sister-in-law cry during a pre-wedding flower girl dress fitting.
Meghan said, “A few days before the wedding, [Kate] was upset about something—yes, the issue was correct, about the flower girl dresses—and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings.” “And I thought in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding, it didn't make sense to not be just doing whatever everyone else is doing, which was trying to be supportive knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot.”
Meghan said, “If you love me, you don't have to hate [Kate], and if you love her, you don't have to hate me,” adding that Kate had “apologized and I [have] forgiven her.”
Kate hasn't spoken out about Meghan's comments to Oprah.
