Meghan Markle's father has requested an interview with Oprah Winfrey about his squabble with his daughter, whom he says he has not talked to since 2018.
In a letter hand delivered to the chat show host's home in California, Thomas Markle, 76, expressed his desire to “give his side of the story.”
It comes the day after Thomas and Prince Harry's controversial interview with Oprah, in which she said she was exposed to racism in the royal family, broadcast on ITV's Good Morning Britain.

On the programme, he expressed his desire to talk with and reconnect with his daughter.
He also revealed that they had a falling out after she became angry at him for speaking to the press in the months leading up to her wedding in 2018.
“Thomas delivered a letter to Oprah asking her to contact him so he could tell his side of the story,” a source told The Sun.
“This was not a note to Meghan and Harry, it was meant for Oprah. Thomas watched the interview she did with them and feels he deserves a chance to have his say. ”
Meghan said in an interview with Oprah that her father's interaction with the media had troubled her deeply, calling it a “betrayal.”
Thomas Markle is also thought to have leaked to the Mail on Sunday an agonizing letter Meghan sent to him in August 2018, which she critizised him for.
Samantha Markle, Thomas' daughter, has been similarly effusive in badmouthing her half-sister Meghan in interviews, even going so far as to write a tell-all book about the duchess, whom she refers to as “princess pushy.”
Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey that she was hurt after Thomas began speaking to the press about her after her engagement to Prince Harry.
“I look at Archie and I can't imagine doing anything to hurt my child. I can't reconcile that”. Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey, “I can't reconcile that,” as she marveled at Thomas' effort to smear her name.
Following her appearance on Oprah, Thomas Markle gave his own TV interview, insisting that he had profusely apologised to Meghan for betraying her.
Thomas said, “She made a statement saying she lost me. She didn't lose me, I would've always been there for her, I'm there for her now if she wants me. We all make mistakes – but I've never played naked pool or dressed like Hitler like Harry did .”
According to the Mirror, Thomas told Good Morning Britain, “I'm still her dad.”
