Meghan Markle’s Life long Obsession with Princess Diana, Failed Marriage
Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, a new book about Meghan Markle, was recently published.
Princess Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, has written a new book about the former Suits actress and how she came to be a member of the British royal family. The following are some of Morton's most surprising claims:
Princess Diana has long been an obsession for Markle.
When Princess Diana died in 1997, according to Morton's new novel, Markle was devastated. “Meghan and her friends attended the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, in early September 1997, tears coursing down their cheeks,” according to Morton, as reported by Us Weekly.
“She was fascinated by Diana, not just for her style, but for her independent humanitarian work, seeing her as a role model,” according to family members. This implies that she was well-versed in Prince Harry prior to meeting him.
Morton cites an unnamed source “She was always intrigued by the royal family,” A friend of Markle's called Ninaki Priddy revealed that becoming Princess Diana 2.0 is her aspiration.”

Her first marriage, to Trevor Engelson, came to an end abruptly.
Markle met Engelson in a Hollywood bar, according to Morton (via Us Weekly), and the producer is credited with helping her land a small role in Robert Pattinson's film Remember Me.
Engelson, on the other hand, remained in Los Angeles while Markle had to move to Toronto for Suits. “The marriage ended so abruptly that Meghan returned Trevor's diamond wedding and engagement rings by registered mail,” Morton writes, adding that her ex-husband “can barely contain his anger” about the heinous situation even now.
Suits' job gave Markle a new lease on life, according to her. “She was her own woman now, earning a steady income, making new friends on and off set, no longer dependent on her husband's connections,” Morton writes (via Daily Mail).
Meghan Markle wears Princess Diana's bracelet for Oprah Interview
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was seen in the interview with Oprah Winfrey wearing a diamond bracelet that belonged to the late Princess of Wales Diana. Markle told Winfrey that the jewelry had unique symbolism and sentimental meaning to her because it belonged to Prince Harry's mother, Princess Diana.
It's worth noting that the Duchess' three-stone engagement ring in 2017 was made with the same bracelet.
Prince Harry, 36, explained at the time, “The main stone itself I sourced from Botswana, and the little diamonds [on] either side are from my mother's jewelry collection to make sure that she's with us on this — on this crazy journey together.”
“The inclusion of that and, obviously not being able to meet his mom, it's so important to me to — to know that she's a part of this with us,” Markle continued.
Prince Harry made a similar reference to his mother, saying that he and his wife Meghan were leaving the royal duties because “history was repeating itself.” Prince Harry said he was “relieved” to have his wife Meghan Markle by his side and related to his mother's departure from the Royal family three decades earlier. “I can't imagine what it must have been like for her [Diana], going through this process by herself all those years ago.” The Duke said, “It's been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other.”
