Netflix Loses 200,000 Subscribers as Elon Musk Claims “Woke Mind Virus” is Killing the Streaming Giant

In a surprising turn of events, Netflix announced that it had lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, marking the first time in a decade that the streaming giant has reported a decrease in subscribers.

Following this announcement, Netflix's stock crashed to a four-year low.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, weighed in on the situation by claiming that the “woke mind virus” is making Netflix unwatchable.

While Musk did not specify why he believes Netflix shows are contributing to this phenomenon, he agreed with one follower who claimed that the “woke mind virus” is the biggest threat to civilization.

Interestingly, some users speculated that the recent deal between Netflix and Harry and Meghan might be the reason behind the loss in subscribers.

One user pointed out the irony of the situation, stating that Netflix employed the couple to boost their viewing figures, yet it has caused the opposite reaction.

Trending:

The majority of users commented that they cancelled their Netflix subscriptions following the announcement of Meghan and Harry's deal.

One user, Claudia Skyes, stated that she believes the couple's involvement with Netflix will only reduce its viewership further.

Another user, Rosio124, claimed to have cancelled her subscription on the same day the multi-million pound offer was made.

Last week, while Harry and travelled to Europe for the Invictus Games, comedians in their new home country jabbed them about their move to the US on the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live.

Colin Jost and Michael Che joked about Elon Musk's ongoing potential takeover of Twitter, with Jost alluding to Meghan and Harry while questioning why the tech mogul would bother trying to purchase the social network.

This isn't the first time the Montecito-based couple have found themselves in Saturday Night Live's crosshairs.

In fact, a Weekend Update segment shortly after their televised wedding took aim at the couple in 2018, with Harry being the b*tt of the joke.

However, this time it was Meghan who was the target.

Daniel Kaluuya also alluded to a controversial revelation from Meghan and Harry's interview with when he hosted the show in April 2021.

During his SNL monologue, Kaluuya said, “Let me reassure you that I am black.

Basically, I am what the royal family was worried the baby would look like.”

Aside from the controversy surrounding Harry and Meghan, there is speculation that their meeting with the Queen at Windsor Castle could pop up on Netflix.

According to a royal reporter, whenever the Queen meets someone at Windsor, everything is recorded because it is considered an official visit, even though it's private.

However, it is unclear whether a picture was taken during the meeting, and if so, who owns it.

In conclusion, while the exact reason for Netflix's subscriber loss remains unclear, it is evident that the streaming giant is facing some challenges.

Elon Musk's comments about the “woke mind virus” and its impact on Netflix have sparked a debate, and users are speculating about the reasons behind the loss in subscribers.

As for Harry and Meghan, they continue to be the subject of controversy and jokes, with their involvement with Netflix being a topic of discussion among users and comedians alike.
