Meghan Markle Criticized for Egotistical Claims in Podcast

is facing criticism after making what some are calling massively egotistical claims in a recent podcast.

The episode, which featured Indian actress Deepika Padukone, comedian Jenny Slate, and actress Constance Wu, drew the ire of a former aide to Mrs. Thatcher, Nile Gardner, who took to Twitter to call it “another completely pointless, massively egotistical, hubris-filled podcast from .”

Royal fans also pointed out a contradiction in Meghan's claims.

Darcy Jones on Cora said, “I'd actually forgotten so I went online to see what the highlights were.

Apparently it was changing a story from the Oprah interview.

Now all of a sudden Meghan claims that Harry referred her to a therapist during a time she describes as ‘my worst point.'

Trending:

Is she describing the time that she claimed in her Oprah interview to feeling suicidal?

So now she's saying she did get help.”

Some fans also questioned Meghan's focus on labels that hold women back versus real mental health issues.

One commenter asked, “What I don't understand as a grown woman is why she couldn't call a therapist herself.

Why is her story always someone did this, didn't do that, told me this, didn't tell me that.

She doesn't even recognize or champion for herself.

No esteem, just nothing there.

It's bizarre.”

Furthermore, royal correspondent Rupert Bell called Meghan's comments “eye-rolling,” while TalkTV's Julia Hartley Brewer said, “she's whinging and moaning again.

There are these stereotypes and I do accept that, but she's talking about how she's been called these things and isn't that terrible.

Hasn't she been called these things because of what she said and what she's done rather than because she's a woman?”

Despite the criticism, Meghan emphasized the importance of seeking help when needed during the podcast.

She shared a personal experience, saying, “I remember at my worst point being finally connected to someone that my husband had found a referral for me to call and I called this woman.

She didn't know I was even calling her and she was checking out at the grocery store.

I could hear all the little bleeps of the checkout and I was introducing myself and I could literally hear her going, wait, sorry, who is this?

She could hear the dire state that I was in.

I think it's for all of us to be honest about what it is you need and to not be afraid to make peace with that.”

However, some fans were skeptical of Meghan's story and pointed out that no mental health professional would take a work call in the grocery checkout, as they would be unable to speak candidly without breaching confidentiality.

Ironically, Kim Kardashian's crime podcast, “The System, The Case of Kevin Keith,” has taken the top spot on the Spotify US podcast chart, beating out Meghan Markle's “Archewell Audio.”

According to Forbes, Kardashian's show dethroned Markle's podcast, which had held the number one spot since its launch in August.

During the podcast, Meghan also highlighted the prevalence of negative labels used against women, saying, “raise your hand if you've ever been called crazy or hysterical, or what about nuts, insane, out of your mind, completely irrational.

Okay, you get the point.

Now, if we were all in the same room and could see each other, I think it would be pretty easy to see just how many of us have our hands up.

By the way, me too.”

While some fans appreciated Meghan's message, others felt that her focus on negative labels detracted from more pressing issues, such as real mental health problems.

Overall, Meghan's podcast has sparked a heated debate among fans and critics alike.
