Anton Dubecker Slams Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Over Baby Name
The world has been buzzing since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, announced the birth of their baby girl, Lilibet Diana.
However, not everyone is thrilled about the name choice for the newborn.
Anton Dubecker, a Strictly Come Dancing judge, had some harsh words for the couple during an appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch on June 7th.
While chatting on the Channel 4 Lunchtime Show, host Steph McGovern asked the panel what they thought about the name, and Anton did not hold back.
He started off by saying the right thing to say would be that it's lovely and fabulous, but then launched into a passionate rant against the Duke and Duchess.
“I find it nauseating and irritating that they have done that,” Anton said.
Trending:
“The thing is, I don't know them, but I just want to say, oh, grow up.
That's all I want to do because I find it irritating.”
Steph tried to defend the royal couple's choice, but Anton was not having it.
“No, I don't find it very nice personally,” he said.
“I don't find it very nice bearing in mind what's gone on.”
Despite the tension, Steph lightened the mood by jokingly telling Anton that his MBE was out the door now.
The Channel 4 studio erupted in laughter, but Anton continued to express his opinion on the matter.
“If the Queen is happy about it and delighted and it's all fabulous, then great,” he said.
“In that case, I'm just a misery guts, and don't listen to me.
So I'm delighted for them.
I'm delighted they've had the baby.
That's gorgeous, and everything is fabulous in that department, but the whole naming thing.
I just go, oh, grow up.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in their $14 million mansion in Montecito, California.
Lilibet was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on June 4th at 11:40 am, making her the Queen's 11th great-grandchild.
Harry and Meghan described their new daughter as more than they could have ever imagined, and it's clear that they are overjoyed by her arrival.
