Meghan Markle May Refer to the Queen as Mama in the Future

As befitting a monarch, style icon, and great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II goes by many names.

She has her official names, which are Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, and then there are the unofficial ones that her family uses.

For instance, the Duke of Edinburgh might call her Sausage, while Prince William prefers to call her Gary.

There's also Lilybette, her sweet childhood nickname that only a select few are permitted to use.

But what about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex?

What should she call the most famous woman in the world?

According to Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine, Meghan may refer to the Queen as Mama once she settles into royal life and all its bizarre protocol.

However, this is a privilege that Meghan will only have when she gets to know the Queen as Diana did.

For the time being, formality is still the key, and when Meghan greets the Queen, she will address her as Your Majesty in courtesy.

The next step up is using the term Mam, which will be thrown into the conversation as many times as possible.

Only then can Meghan start to refer to her grandmother-in-law by the pet name Mama.

It's a term of endearment that is both adorable and fitting for the Queen, but Meghan will have to earn the right to use it.

During Saturday's Trooping the Colour, Meghan Markle appeared to be nailing life as the Duchess of Sussex.

Some people made a fuss about her Carolina Herrera dress, which was slightly off the shoulder.

However, given that it's hardly likely to result in a stint in a dungeon, it's safe to say she's taking to her new role well.

In fact, the only sign of any nerves came during the balcony appearance, when caring Harry sought to reassure her with some comforting words.

However, Meghan's first Trooping the Colour went a lot more smoothly than Princess Diana's.

Back in 1981, the then-Lady Diana was just 19 years old and only weeks away from marrying into the royal family.

A shy teenager who later described herself as a fat Sloane Ranger, her first Trooping of the Colour could not have been more dramatic.

So, while Meghan has settled into royal life with ease, Diana's experience was quite different.
