Kate Middleton Set to Become Next Princess of Wales, Filling Diana’s Shoes

As Prince Charles prepares to become king, it has been claimed that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is set to become the next Princess of Wales, taking the title from Diana.

Royal expert Camilla Tominey spoke to Nine News Australia, stating that Kate and William are preparing to be the future Prince and Princess of Wales.

She also highlighted that Kate is a hugely influential figure moving forward, being the mother of a future king and the wife of a future king.

Tominey went on to explain that there is a degree of talk about transition behind Pallis Gates, and Kate is effectively the person who is going to fill Diana's shoes when the time comes.

She has worn the late princess's ring for more than a decade, and this is where we're going to see this couple go now.

Kate Middleton celebrated her 40th birthday on January 9th and has been described as a beacon inside the firm by author Katie Nicholl, who wrote the book “Kate, the future Queen”.

Nicholl explained that Kate started planning her approach to royal work and preparing for her future roles of Princess of Wales and Queen Consort from her very first days as a member of the royal family.

According to a close friend, Kate was quite daunted by the prospect of one day supporting King William as his consort in her first years as a Duchess.

Referring to this time, the friend told the Sunday Times magazine that she was overwhelmed at times.

There was also an expectation for Kate to become the next Princess Diana and fill the hole her untimely death in 1997 had left in the country and among royal fans.

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, was protective of Kate and gave her enough time to adjust to her new public role and life.

According to a YouGov opinion poll from last August, the Duchess of Cambridge is the third most popular member of the firm, with a net approval rating of 59%.

Around three in four respondents said they had a positive view of the Duchess, and just 16% expressed a negative view of Kate.

However, there is a possibility that Kate may not be able to become Queen Consort if Camilla does not receive the title before her.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal historian Koenig said it would be a terrible precedent if Camilla was only a princess when Prince Charles becomes King.

There is no law, but it is a tradition that the wife of the king is the queen.
