Princess Eugenie Pays Touching Tribute to Late Grandfather Prince Philip

has shared a heartwarming tribute to her late grandfather, Prince Philip, on Instagram.

The princess, who is one of the Duke of Edinburgh's eight grandchildren, posted a lengthy message alongside two photos of her with the Duke, who passed away last Friday at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle.

The first photo was taken on the Royal Balcony at the Investec Derby Festival at Epsom in Surrey in 2017, showing Eugenie standing near her sister, , and grandfather Prince Philip.

The second photo shows Prince Philip patting a then eight-year-old Eugenie affectionately on the head on Christmas Day at Sandringham in 1998.

In the caption of the post, wrote, “Dearest Grandpa, we all miss you.

You'll be so touched by all the tributes that have been shared with me in the past few days.

Trending:

People remember sitting next to you at a dinner, or shaking your hand once, who remember you saying hello in passing, or remember how much their D of E award meant to them.”

She also shared some of her own memories with Prince Philip, saying, “I remember learning how to cook, how to paint, what to read.

I remember laughing at your jokes and asking about your spectacular life and service in the Navy.

I remember incinerating the sausages and you swooping in to save the day.

I remember your hands and your laugh and your favourite beer.

I will remember you and your children, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”

Princess Eugenie ended her touching tribute by promising to look after Her Majesty the Queen in his absence, saying, “Thank you for your dedication and love for us all, and especially Granny, who we will look after for you.

With all my love, Eugenie.”

The 30-year-old granddaughter of the Queen and late Prince Philip welcomed her first son, August, in February, and she and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, gave him Philip as one of his middle names after his great-grandfather.

However, due to lockdown restrictions, it is thought that Eugenie never had the opportunity to introduce her newborn son to her grandfather before his death last Friday.

Prince Philip was known for his dedication to his granddaughters, attending the weddings of both Eugenie and her sister Beatrice.

He was looked up to as the patriarch of his family and became a mentor for younger royals who continued to turn to him over the years.

Princess Eugenie once described him as the rock of the family, saying, “I think Grandpa is incredible.

He really is strong and consistent.

He's been there for all these years and I think he's the rock, you know, for all of us.”

Princess Eugenie has not spoken publicly since the death of her grandfather on the 9th April, as older family members paid their tributes first.

She waited until her cousins, and , made their remarks before sharing her own memories of their grandfather.
