The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has addressed the claim made by Meghan Markle during her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this month.

The Duchess of Sussex claimed that she and Prince Harry had a secret marriage ceremony with the Archbishop in their backyard, three days before their wedding day in Windsor on May 19th, 2018.

However, it was thought that this could not have been a legal ceremony, as it lacked witnesses and a registered venue, and was instead likely to have been an informal exchange of vows.

Some have suggested that Meghan was so desperate to gain control of the ginger-haired prince that she manipulated and forced him to marry her.

The Archbishop has said that the legal wedding took place on the Saturday, adding, “but I won't say what happened at any other meetings.”

He also had suspicions that the marriage certificate could be forged.

If it is fake, Meghan and Harry may be having a malicious plot with the British royal family.

“There's always a way forward, but it has to be the right time,” he said.
