Angry Royal Watchers Threaten to Boycott Oscars Over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Potential Appearance
Reports that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may be presenting an award at the Oscars have sparked outrage among some royal fans, with threats of a boycott being made on social media.
Show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowen have lined up some amazing A-list names to take to the stage, and Harry and Meghan would be the icing on the cake, according to a source.
However, responding to the claims on Twitter, one user Linda Levine wrote, “If they present an award I'm done with the Oscars.”
Another user, Philip, agreed, writing, “Oscars credibility down the toilet.
Will suggest a red button and an audience, sponsorship and advertising crash.
Any product advertised and or company sponsorship of the Oscars to be boycotted.”

Meanwhile, Melissa Gregoire wrote, “I will really be disappointed if these two are presenters at the Academy Awards.
Why?
Because they will see it as a sign that they have been truly embraced by A-listers.
Their most favorite people who espouse their ideals, and who will finally allow them into their intimate circles.”
Ginger Jones added, “I don't believe this for a second.
Previous presenters have been Rita Moreno, Jame Fonda, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Michelle Obama, Sean Connery, Sidney Poitier, Al Pacino.
No way are they in the same league.”
However, one user claimed that Harry and Meghan were not invited and that they won't be there.
The user said, “I'm a member of the Academy, a voter for the awards.
I've seen the seating chart and the list of presenters.
These two aren't on any list and won't be there.
There are actual Hollywood stars that will be presenting.”
The news comes as a shock to royal fans, following Prince Harry's decision to snub the Oscars back in January following Kristen Stewart's depiction of his mother, Princess Diana, in nominated film Spencer, as well as his controversial decision to skip Prince Philip's memorial service on March 29 amid an ongoing row over police protection.
Prince Harry is already facing criticism from some after it was announced he'll fly to the Hague in the Netherlands for the Invictus Games 2022, despite snubbing the memorial just weeks before, a move that was branded a slap in the face for the Queen.
The Duke of Sussex may choose to pass up on the opportunity out of respect for his family.
“It would be seen as a final kick in the teeth for the royal family if he did,” a source explained.
“He's too nervous to fly to London without police protection, but happy to stand up in front of a huge live audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Not great optics.”
The memorial service will be attended by royals around the world as it comes up to the one-year anniversary of Prince Philip's death.
Last month, a source told that Harry and Meghan might skip out on the Oscars altogether to avoid a run-in with Kristen Stewart, who played Princess Diana in the critically acclaimed Spencer, which is expected to nab her a Best Actress nomination.
“This struck a sour note with Harry.
He's pretty appalled by the film,” the source said.
“Of course, it's understandable that he probably doesn't want to be associated with a movie that dramatizes a very specific moment in his late mother's life.”
