Duchess of Cambridge Breaks Royal Protocol with First Ever Selfie Video

The Duchess of Cambridge, , has broken the mould by posting her first ever selfie video to celebrate the start of Children's Mental Health Week on Kensington Royal's Instagram account.

The Palace has a strict no selfie policy, but Royals have been known to break this rule on occasion, and it looks like Catherine has good reason to do so.

In the video, Catherine is dressed in a barber jacket and a navy beanie, while appearing to be filming on the grounds of her Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

She ditches her usual big wavy curls and shows her natural straight hair in front of the camera.

She also dons a jacket from Barber and a two-tone bobble hat.

Catherine's message focuses on the importance of expressing oneself, especially during these challenging times.

“This year's Children's Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself.

That's finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings.

So whether that's through photography, through art, through drama, through music, or poetry, it's finding those things that make you feel good about yourself,” she says.

She also highlights the importance of parental wellbeing and mental health, adding, “Whilst this is Children's Mental Health Week, there has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too.

Last year you told me just how important this was, but many of us find it hard to prioritise.

This is a hugely challenging time for us all, so please look after yourself too.”

The video, which has been watched over 2 million times, was well received by royal fans who left more than a thousand messages.

Catherine and her husband, , are residing at their country home with their three children, , , and .

During a chat with parents and headteacher, Melissa Loosemore, the Duchess explained how she was feeling.

“I think as parents you've the day-to-day elements of being a parent, but I suppose during lockdown we have had to take on additional roles that perhaps others in our communities or in our lives would have perhaps supported us and helped us with.”

She also credited for giving her the greatest amount of support during the pandemic.
