The Queen Beams As She Attends RAF Centenary Event In London

The Queen was in high spirits on Wednesday as she made her way to the Royal Air Force Club in London for an event marking its 100th anniversary.

Despite the dreary weather and lack of umbrella, the monarch, 92, beamed as she arrived at the venue.

Last Friday, the Queen watched her granddaughter marry Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle.

This week, her grandson , 34, announced that he and the Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child in the spring of 2019.

With the arrival of Harry and Meghan's baby, the Queen will become a great-grandmother for the eighth time.

Already a great-grandmother to Peter Philip's daughters, Savannah 7, and Isla 6, Zara and Mike Tindall's daughters, Maya 4, and three-month-old Lena, and 's three children, 5, 3, and five-month-old E, the Queen has plenty to smile about.

As a proud supporter of the military forces, the Queen was invited to the Royal Air Force Club for the centenary event.

The celebration is part of a series of events being held throughout the year to mark the milestone.

Despite the drizzle, the Queen arrived in style in her chauffeur-driven car.

She was greeted by a uniformed officer and appeared to be in excellent spirits as she made her way inside the club.

The Queen wore a blue coat over an elegant blue and green floral dress, showcasing her typically bright and cheerful style.

During her visit, the Queen unveiled a new portrait of herself painted by artist Ben Sullivan.

The portrait features the Queen sitting in a drawing room in Windsor Castle, wearing a light blue dress and pearls, with her black Loner London handbag sitting beside her on the floor.

The Queen was last seen at the wedding of and Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle on Saturday, where she is believed to have been among the members of the royal family who were informed of Harry and Meghan's baby news.

Currently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on a 16-day royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji.

They announced the news of their pregnancy after arriving in Sydney on Monday.
